Orphanage in Eastern Europe Needs Volunteers

Description

The Bila Tserkva orphanage for children with special needs is looking for volunteers in the Spring and Summer months to play with the children. Five are confirmed HIV positive and several others are awaiting diagnosis. There are 50 children aged 0-5. It is located 90 minutes outside of Kiev.

Ukraine Medical Outreach will be assisting the staff in providing better care for the children.  The orphanage looks well maintained and has a physical therapy room and an audio/visual therapy room, but they don’t look like they get very much use. There is also an outdoor playground. Hopefully volunteers would get the children involved with all of this equipment and provide some much needed love and attention.

To volunteer, please contact Greg and Edna Silva.  You can also follow that link to see their entire blog post about their visit to the orphanage.
