"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"

(Matthew 25:34-40)

Overview of Ministry Activity

Based at the Central Baptist Church in Moscow, this ministry was founded by the Rev. Mikhail Zhidkov during the 'glasnost' period toward the end of the 1980's.

The current staff of 8 full time workers, with the help of dozens of volunteers, provides humanitarian aid and practical help to thousands of disadvantaged people in Moscow. Those helped include:

-Abandoned children

-Children with special needs

-The elderly, sick and infirm

-The homeless, refugees, displaced persons and ex-prisoners

-Large and poor families

The team also provides regular hot meals to the most needy in two locations. Currently they are giving support and assistance to refugees from the war in Chechnya, and as Christians, do not discriminate between Russians and Chechens.

Eurovangelism is the main sponsor of the Compassion Ministry.

Plans and Goals

The goal is to show God's love and mercy to people in need and to give them hope. We are planning to start a new program of supporting teenagers - orphans from orphanages, shelters and children homes who start studying at vocational training schools to get professional education.
