Charlie Chastain, a missionary to Russia with The Mission Society (www.actsofadvocacy.org), first met Alex and Jacqui Cooke, directors of UK-based Love Russia (www.loverussia.org), in March of this past year at our Eastern Europe Summit on Orphans & the Church. At the conference, Charlie and the Cookes discovered that they share very similar approaches to ministry in Russia. Recently, after much prayer and discussion, they have decided to combine their efforts, knowledge and resources to serve orphans in the St. Petersburg area.
Beginning in the next few months, Charlie will take on the responsibility of discovering, befriending, and evaluating rural facilities where the needs of orphans are generally greater than in the city. For the past 15 years, Love Russia has developed and maintained over 50 ministries in other regions of Russia. Their experience and support will be very beneficial in establishing successful projects that impact orphans for the long-term.
